The CABI welcomes collaborative research, and part of its mission is to serve as a regional resource for brain imaging (see Policies). Investigators may submit collaborative research proposals to the Protocol Review Committee (PRC), which meets on a monthly schedule designed to coordinate with the schedule of the NKI Institutional Review Board (IRB) (see calendar below). Approval by the PRC is a pre-requisite for submission to the NKI IRB. Further details about the submission and review process are described on the Submission Requirements page. The forms needed for submission, sample consent forms, the Safety Policy Manual, and the Application for an Abbreviated Investigational Device Exemption for a 3.0T MRI System can be downloaded using the following table. Right-click the required document and choose "Save as..." from the menu. It is especially important for anyone submitting a protocol to be familiar with the CABI Safety Policy!

* In order to run the spell checker on this document, macros must be enabled. To enable macros, the macro security level should be set to Medium (or Low). Inside of Word, go to the Tools Menu, then Macro, then Security. On the Security tab, make sure Medium (or Low) is selected. If Medium is selected, when you open a Word document with macros included (such as this form) it will let you know that and prompt you to disable or enable macros. Investigators who are not NKI employees should also review additional instructions regarding protocol and consent form preparation.
Please note that IRB approval(s) (NKI-IRB and IRB of the affiliated institution) is required for all protocols approved by the CABI-PRC. It is the investigator's responsibility to contact the NKI-IRB office (x5493) and the affiliated-IRB office. Finally, approved NKI-IRB reviews are forwarded to the Office of Mental Health (NYS) for approval, who will forward their approval directly to the investigator (this letter must be copied to the CABI before a protocol may begin). Animal care approval is required only by the NKI Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). The CABI-PRC will directly forward Basic Animal Research protocols directly to the IACUC after approval.
